Mr. André Schreuders, a Dutch film director, has done an artist in residence program in Public Room in the period November 2011 – February 2012. In this period Schreuders made extensive research on the topic “Heroes”, starting from the international school in Skopje and ending up in a shepherd’s home in the mountain village of Čer enjoying homemade rakija and cheese during a long epic hero song. On the way he popped in a bilingual barber shop in Kičevo where the customers are the greatest heroes….

On the occasion of the presentation of the results of the research of the project Heroes, Public Room organizes preview and talks with André Schreuders on 14 February, 2012 at 18:45 in Promo Center - Public Room.

The collected raw material is a gathering of anthropological observations that are the starting point of several social, political and philosophical questions which maybe go beyond the specific situation of current Macedonia.

Biography André Schreuders
After his studies in Philosophy and Management Science and a short career in urban planning André Schreuders (1967) works since 2001 as an independent film maker. He developed his personal film language as a director, scriptwriter, cameraman and editor of poetic and philosophical documentary and fiction films. His films differ in style and subject, but come from the same vision on art and on life: The surprise about reality as a starting point, the poetic view on reality as a way of understanding and the imperfection as highest grade of perfection in art and life.
