Synopsis: Following his parents' divorce, Isaac, seventeen, lives alone with his mother. An introvert by nature, he passes the time by polishing his Samurai sword, listening to his walkman, and slipping into the apartments of absent strangers. His parents, Roos and Martin, meet regularly to keep a connection with one another. When Roos confides her concerns about Isaac, arguments ensue, as Martin seems to have little to no interest in his son's welfare.
In the director's own words, her goal was to make a film where the dialogues would bring out the emptiness of words and the most important information would be transferred in a non-verbal way. Undoubtedly, she managed to achieve this aim in Tussenstand.
