Artist in residence

Public Room offers residence studio for international artists. Organization supports the planning and realization of its residents’ projects, its production, and the development and organization of artistic and cultural projects both in and outside of Skopje. The residence program studio is fully equipped space for maximum two international artists per time. The selection of visual arts is based on individual applications and in cooperation with national, regional and international partners leveled on the standards of originality and creativity. Annually the organization is prepared to host maximum six projects.

Heroes by André Schreuders

Mr. André Schreuders, a Dutch film director, has done an artist in residence program in Public Room in the period November 2011 – February 2012. In this period Schreuders made extensive research on the topic “Heroes”, starting from the international school in Skopje and ending up in a shepherd’s home in the mountain village of Čer enjoying homemade rakija and cheese during a long epic hero song. On the way he popped in a bilingual barber shop in Kičevo where the customers are the greatest heroes….
